Bone cancer

Bone cancer

The bone cancer is a sarcoma ( tumor cancer) that originates from the bone. In Spain, just over half a hundred new cases are diagnosed every year, so primary bone cancer is relatively rare.

The bone cancer secondary (or metastatic) is a cancer that has spread to the bone from elsewhere in the body. This type of bone cancer is more common than primary bone cancer .

Types

The most common types of primary bone cancer are:

  • Osteosarcoma
  • Chondrosarcoma
  • Ewing's sarcoma

Osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma occur more frequently in children and adolescents, while chondrosarcoma is more common in adults.

symptom

The symptoms of bone cancer can vary depending on the size and location of the tumor . The pain is the most common symptom, as well as swelling and hypersensitivity (from a tumor located in or near a joint), or difficulty normal movement. Other symptoms can be:

  • Fatigue
  • Fever
  • Weightloss
  • Anemia

The presence of one or more of the above symptoms does not necessarily imply that you have bone cancer . However, it is important that you consult these symptoms with your doctor, as they could indicate other health problems.
